Good web dev class for my daughter

Got my daughter signed up for the web development for kids class after she did the free trial. She really enjoyed it, said it was pretty cool to make her own little website. The mentor was nice and seemed to know her stuff. We had one small hiccup with a login link not working right away, but support fixed it pretty fast, maybe within an hour. Overall, it was a good experience and she learned a lot. Might try one of the science experiment courses next summer if they have them again.

Good coding class, minor tech issue

I signed my son up for the Python for Kids class last month. The content itself was solid, and his mentor seemed very knowledgeable. He really enjoyed learning some basic coding. My only minor complaint was a slight lag during one of the sessions which made it a little hard to follow for a few minutes. It cleared up quickly, but it was a bit disruptive. Overall, a good value for the price, and he's definitely learning.

Smooth experience, helpful support

We just finished our trial for the Robotics for Kids course, and it was a pretty smooth process from start to finish. Ordering the course was straightforward on their website. The class materials were easily accessible, and the mentor was good with my daughter. We had a small question about rescheduling a 1:1 session, so I contacted support. They responded within a few hours and helped me move the class without any hassle. The instructions for the robotics hardware were clear too, we didn't need to buy anything extra. She's really looking forward to continuing with the full course.

Consistent quality for math

We've been using Codeyoung for a few different courses now, starting with Vedic math and then competitive math. This last competitive math session was just as good as the previous ones. The mentor they assigned was excellent again, really good at explaining complex topics. It's why we keep coming back, the quality of the teaching is always reliable. The rescheduling process for a couple of classes was smooth enough too, which helps when our schedule changes.

Consistent quality for math classes

This was our third course with Codeyoung, and it was for Competitive Math this time. I've always found their math programs to be consistently good. My older son did Vedic Math last year, and this experience was just as reliable. The mentors are usually patient and explain things well. The platform feels familiar now, so logging in and tracking progress is never an issue. They're a solid choice for online learning, which is why we keep coming back.

My kid loved Scratch!

My son just finished his Scratch programming for kids course and he absolutely loved it! The mentor was so patient and made learning fun. He's already asking about Python classes next. Definitely signing him up for more!

How long do these 1:1 classes usually last? Don't want my kid staring at a screen for hours.

C Chris 2 months ago
From my experience, the individual sessions are typically an hour long. It felt like a good length for my son.

Most classes are an hour, which is perfect. Not too short to learn anything, not too long to get bored.

I'm looking at Codeyoung vs WhiteHat Jr for my elementary schooler. Anyone have experience with both? What's the main difference?

K Kevin 2 months ago
I used WhiteHat Jr for a bit and then switched to Codeyoung. I felt like Codeyoung's teachers were a bit more engaging and customized the lessons better for my daughter's pace. WhiteHat Jr felt a little more 'canned' sometimes.

Both are pretty similar, tbh. I think Codeyoung focuses more on a mastery approach, so they really make sure your kid gets a concept before moving on. WhiteHat Jr was okay but felt a bit rushed at times.

Is Codeyoung actually any good compared to WhiteHat Jr? Been seeing ads for both.

M Mike Lindqvist 2 months ago
I actually switched my son from WhiteHat Jr to Codeyoung. The 1:1 attention here feels a lot more personal, and the curriculum seems more tailored.

I heard good things about both, but Codeyoung's focus on mastery kinda sold me. Plus, the mentors seem really well-vetted.

Thinking of signing up my kid for the Python classes. How long are these sessions usually? My kid's focus isn't super long.

N Neil 2 months ago
From what I remember, they're like 45-60 minutes. My son does the Scratch ones and they're usually around that. Plenty of time but not too much for little ones.

Yeah, my daughter's coding class is about an hour. They break it up nicely though, so it doesn't feel like a drag.

My two kids want to do different classes. Any chance of a discount if I sign them both up?

D Daisy Q. 2 months ago
Yep, they usually have a sibling discount. Ask during the demo call, they'll sort you out.

I got a discount for my two. It's not huge but every bit helps, right? Just mention it when you're talking to them about enrollment.
